Hot news: Dedon Island
Kick off your shoes and bask in laidback luxury off Siargao
Last December’s opening of Luxury island resort Dedon Island on the southeastern tip of Siargao , three hours south of Manila, was a success with local celebrities Kris Aquino and Gretchen Barreto among those booking a stay. The island is all of four hectares, blessed with a mangrove forest and its own bay. It has nine individually designed villas, all facing the sea. The interiors are a rich contrast of sumptuous white bed linen and handcarved wood, with furnishings all made locally. Fruit and vegetables served here are all organic, handpicked from Dedon Island’s own organic farm. Enjoy the beach or infinity pool, or be active and explore the beautiful coves of the pristine Sohoton Coves; surf at the world famous Cloud 9, only 30 minutes away; for the more adventurous, Dedon can arrange deep sea fishing, with the island close to the Philippine Deep, a 1,300km trench, the world’s third deepest point; at night, there’s an outdoor cinema, but with the sea and nature laid out before you, who needs the big box?
Rates start at P23, 800 per villa per night. Best time to visit is from April to October.
